Last night’s BRIT awards were historic. They marked many changes in the music industry and the world as a whole. Here is the full list of winners and highlights from the evening.
Dave – Psychodrama
Dave made a huge impression at the awards when he celebrated his win by giving a performance, during which he called out PM Boris Johnson for being a racist.
Best British Female
Mabel had a great evening and was able to celebrate with her mum, as she came along too!
Best British Male
Stormzy made history again by winning his third BRIT award and thanking every single female member of his team.
“To be the best male, I’ve got the most incredible females in my team,” said Stormzy.
Best British Group
English rock band Foals have been going for 15 years and finally won their first BRIT award on their third nomination.
Best New Artist
Lewis Capaldi makes a huge impression as he becomes 2020’s only multi-BRIT winner.
Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved
After stealing the show with his second award, Lewis Capaldi was praised by fellow winner Stormzy who began singing ‘Someone You Loved’ with him.
Best International Female
Billie Eilish gave an incredible debut performance of her Bond theme, orchestrated by Hans Zimmer and accompanied by her collaborator and older brother, Finneas.
Best International Male
Tyler, The Creator
Tyler, The Creator continues to rise to glory as he snaps up his first BRIT award, less than a month after winning his first Grammy.
British soul and blues singer-songwriter Celeste won her first BRIT award, after being BBC Introducing’s Artist of the Year in 2019, taking the country by storm with her song ‘Strange’.
I think it’s fair to say that 2020 saw very good representation of talent in the music industry across the board. There was no issue of white-washing or a lack of female representation and I genuinely believe that each artist was fully deserving of their respective awards.
