Artist Spotlight – Kidsmoke

Welsh indie-pop band Kidsmoke have released their latest single, ‘She Takes You Under’, and it is very pleasing to the ears.

It’s at times like these that I feel sad that the charts are so saturated with manufactured crap that quality bands like Kidsmoke struggle to break through. ‘She Takes You Under’ is just SO GOOD.

When listening to it, it took me back to that time I went to the Isle of Wight Festival with a few of my mates and we saw Blossoms on the main stage. They were absolutely incredible live, by the way. ‘She Takes You Under’ gives me strong Blossoms vibes. That’s not to say that Kidsmoke are a pale imitation of Blossoms. In fact, if I were Blossoms right now, I’d be shaking in my seat because Kidsmoke seem to be making a lot more uplifting music.

It’s the vocals especially that get me in this song. The harmonies are just beautiful. They’re not over-powerful, they’re just perfect. When you put together perfect harmonies with those guitar riffs (including a surprisingly impressive bass line) and all the other little synth details, it is a masterpiece.
